We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose , an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination.
If you save just a few pounds of space in your suitcase and take supplies for the projects we support in need, you’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of our local children and families.

Pack for a Purpose showcases responsible tourism projects around the world and it gives our guests a way of getting involved and contributing to those projects.
These are the two local organizations that we are currently donating to…
Machias Food Pantry
We Care Baby Center
Washington County, Maine is one of the most scenic and beautiful counties in the world, but the poverty rate is roughly 5% above the state average (Maine Center for Economic Policy). Many of the residents, make their living off of the land or sea and work is often seasonal and/or weather dependent.
The Machias Food Pantry serves over 400 individuals per week.
The We Care Baby Center serves over 120 tiny clients per month.
Below are the items that the Food Pantry and We Care Baby Center frequently needs and we welcome donations of easily packaged items. Donations can range from any kind of unexpired non-perishable food, a small package of baby wipes to a case of diapers to an article(s) of gently used baby or toddler clothes.
Many of our guests have made comments that they would love to help contribute in some way to the local economy and we feel this would be an excellent partnership. Contributing is completely optional, of course, and we welcome small and large donations. We will have a designated place – basket – in each rental to leave the donations and they will be picked up and donated to the organization several times throughout the season.
Wicked Awesome Maine also offers you the option to have supplies purchased locally on your behalf if you would like to donate. If you are interested, please contact us. We thank you, the local residents thank you, the volunteers at the We Care Baby Center and food pantry thank you and those lovely cherub-cheeked, tiny DownEast Maine residents thank you.
